writing support priorities
-
encouraging the writer's strengths (i.e. what they enjoy doing vs. what they don't enjoy doing)
-
de-escalation of pressure, invitation to think and feel freely
-
specific, praise-based feedback that helps the writer build confidence from within the context of their own work
-
practice sharing one's work, getting comfortable with vulnerability
-
questions that prompt critical thinking and curiosity, reminding the writer that they get to choose (or not choose) what things mean
-
editing focus on structuring and organization, improving clarity and providing questions/prompts that help the writer build the story
-
redirection from the doubts and fears that live in the mind to the joy and curiosity of creating in the present moment
-
a genuine and compassionate curiosity in everyone's stories, and a desire to see all people happy and successful (having written those definitions themselves)
